Henkel Corporation is voluntarily recalling its Schwarzkopf Professional Osis Grip hair mousse nationwide after finding a packaging defect that can let the product leak under pressure, creating a risk of explosion. The company announced the recall on August 11, 2026, in a press release from Henkel North America.
What’s recalled
The recall covers the Schwarzkopf Professional Osis Grip 6.76 fl. oz/200 ml aerosol can, sold in 25 lots identified by batch codes printed on the back of the can. Henkel’s notice lists every affected code, so a salon or a shopper with a can at home can check the exact batch rather than guessing from the product name alone. Henkel distributed the recalled cans through 21 distributors in 12 states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Florida, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, and Washington. Cans outside the 25 recalled lots aren’t part of the recall and remain safe to use, according to the notice.
Why Henkel issued the recall
The recalled cans have a packaging issue that lets the pressurized contents leak, which the company says creates a risk of explosion. Henkel learned about the defect from one customer complaint and two salon reports; the customer reported bruising on their hand, and no other injuries have surfaced. Henkel set up a dedicated customer line for questions, staffed Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 6 a.m. to noon Pacific time. The company hasn’t said whether it plans to restock the product once the packaging issue is fixed.
